2018 Governor's Youth Volunteer Service Awards

Nominations for the Governor’s Youth Volunteer Service Awards are being accepted by the State Office of Volunteerism through Friday, April 13, 2018.  These awards recognize the important contributions that Delaware’s Youth volunteers, 17 years old and younger, make to their communities. Award recipients will be honored on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at a special ceremony at Polytech Adult Education Conference Center.

The awards honor young Delawareans volunteerism in the areas of arts and culture, community service, education, environment, health, human needs, public service and social justice/advocacy.  Volunteer efforts must have been performed during 2017; though prior volunteer activity can also be highlighted to show long term commitment. The nominated individuals and group members must be seventeen years old or younger.

Elevate Your Volunteer Leadership

The Delaware State Office of Volunteerism and the Delaware Association of Volunteer Administrators are once again presenting the annual Volunteer Delaware Conference.
Monday, April 30, 2018 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Held annually, the 2018 day-long conference is being conducted at Dover Downs Hotel in Dover. 

Keynote Address

Conference keynote, Patti Grimes, is the Executive Director of both The Freeman Stage, and the Carl M. Freeman Foundation, located in Selbyville, DE. She leads The Freeman Stage team to provide high quality arts experiences for all at The Freeman Stage at Bayside and in Sussex County schools, which has hosted over 386,000 patrons during her tenure. Patti also leads grant management and capacity building programs for the Carl M. Freeman Foundation to support and promote innovative community-based leadership and giving.  Patti is active in the community volunteering for Adopt-a-Family and Adopt-A-School programs as well as other service organizations. 

Closing Plenary

"That One Thing; Gaining Return out of Your Learning and Connection Investment" will be offered by Barry Altland. Barry is a writer, speaker, non-profit executive, thought leader and published author of the book, "Engaging the Head, Heart and Hands of a Volunteer.
